Parking in Wrocław city centre: Rynek, Plac Solny and the Opera
Looking for parking near Wrocław’s Market Square? The old town is beautiful, but driving around it is not: narrow one-way streets, a paid parking zone, and few free spots at any hour. This guide covers your real options for parking near the Rynek, Plac Solny and the Wrocław Opera, whether you are visiting for an afternoon or live here year-round.
The paid parking zone in the strict centre
The streets around the old town belong to Wrocław’s paid parking zone (Strefa Płatnego Parkowania). You pay at meters or by app during controlled hours, prices rise the closer you get to the Rynek, and time limits apply in the innermost subzone. Enforcement is regular, so an expired ticket usually costs more than a garage would have. In the innermost subzone (ŚSPP Obszar A) parking costs 7.00 PLN for the first hour, rising to 7.30 and 7.70 PLN for the second and third, and the śródmiejska zone is paid every day from Monday to Sunday, 9:00 to 20:00. Rates and hours are set by the city; check the official SPP page before you rely on street parking.
Best car parks near the Rynek and Plac Solny
For the old town, an underground garage beats circling for a street spot:
Parking NFM (plac Wolności 1): 665 spaces under the National Forum of Music, open around the clock, entry and exit by license-plate cameras through the Share.P app, from 8.00 PLN/h. About a 10-minute walk to the Rynek and 6 minutes to Plac Solny. See the NFM car park page.
Parking Renoma: further south, under the Renoma department store right on Świdnicka street, also in the Share.P network (first hour free, 5.00 PLN per additional hour, 50 PLN per 24h). Convenient for the Świdnicka shopping area; for the Rynek itself, NFM is our pick. See the Renoma car park page.
From the north side of the old town there is also the Nowy Targ underground car park (334 spaces, open around the clock). Other garages exist around the old town’s edge; capacity and prices vary by day and events.
Parking for the Wrocław Opera
The Opera sits on Świdnicka street, at the edge of the paid zone. Parking NFM is about a 4-minute walk away, which makes it the natural choice for performances: drive in, walk one block, and the car is underground while you are at the show.
Our recommendation: Parking NFM
For visitors, Parking NFM is the simplest way to park in the centre: book a spot in the Share.P app before you arrive or just drive in, the cameras read your plate, no paper ticket, no barrier buttons, and you pay from your phone. 665 spaces under the National Forum of Music mean you will almost always find room, even on event days, and the garage is open around the clock, from 8.00 PLN/h.
And if you live in Wrocław: the Nasz Wrocław programme (for residents who settle their PIT tax here) cuts your first 2 hours at NFM by 50%, applied automatically once you add your programme card in the Share.P app. The full setup guide is on our deal page. Programme members also get 25% off a season pass.
FAQ
Is there free parking near the Rynek? Between 9:00 and 20:00, every day including weekends, practically none within walking distance. Street parking is free only before 9:00 and after 20:00, and spots are scarce.
Can I park overnight? Parking NFM is open around the clock, so overnight parking is simply the hourly rate for the time you stay, or a season pass if it is regular.
Do I need cash or a paper ticket? Not at Parking NFM: cameras read your plate, the Share.P app handles payment, and the digital ticket expires after 12 hours if unused.
Download the Share.P app and the centre of Wrocław is one tap away. And if you pay your taxes here, add your Nasz Wrocław card once and park for half the price.
