Parking for the Basel Autumn Fair and Christmas Market 2026

Basler Herbstmesse: 24 October to 8 November 2026

Switzerland’s biggest funfair spreads over seven places in the city: Messeplatz, Rosentalanlage, Petersplatz, Barfüsserplatz, Münsterplatz, the Kasernenareal and a hall of Messe Basel. The market on Petersplatz runs two days longer, until 10 November. Entry is free.

Basler Weihnachtsmarkt: 26 November to 23 December 2026

About 150 stalls on Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz in the old town, every day from 11:00 to 20:30. On 23 December Barfüsserplatz closes at 20:00 and Münsterplatz at 18:00.

Coming by car

Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz are in the pedestrian old town, and the streets around them are full on fair and market weekends. Leave the car in a car park and walk or take the tram for the last part.

• Parking VISIONAPARTMENTS Basel Kunstmuseum, Peter Merian-Strasse 58: 16 minutes on foot to Barfüsserplatz and 18 minutes to Münsterplatz.

Good to know

• Messeplatz and Rosentalanlage are on the other side of the Rhine, in Kleinbasel; the tram from Barfüsserplatz takes you there.
• The Herbstmesse is busiest in the evenings and at weekends.
