The price of an electric car charging station

The increasing number of electric vehicles on the road naturally leads to an increase in the number of charging points. These are divided into several styles and types. Having an electric car, we have to charge it somewhere. This raises the question of how much charging itself costs and what amount you should pay for your own electric car charging station.

What is the price of an electric vehicle charging station?

We can find a wide range of chargers on the market. Different models of wallboxes and poles. There are also portable EVSE chargers. A significantly higher cost is the construction of a fast charging station.

  • Prices for a wallbox with socket start at PLN 2 999. These are basic, tested and certified wall chargers. Those with a cable, on the other hand, start at PLN 3,299.

  • A dual wallbox, which can charge two cars at once, costs from PLN 4 999. This is the cheapest solution per charging point.

  • The cost of an AC charging pole is at least PLN 6 999. It works well when built in the middle of a car park.

  • Portable EVSE chargers for a 230 v socket start at around PLN 1 000.

  • DC charging stations with 50 kW of power are around PLN 49 999.

Simply buying a charger is not enough.

It must also be installed and secured. In the case of public stations, it is still necessary to provide appropriate signage, a certified energy meter, connection to the grid, periodic inspections and special residual current protection.

How much does it cost to install/build a charging station?

The work of an electrician represents a fairly large installation cost. The installation periphery depends on the location of the station and the need to bring the electrical system in the right length. If the electrical installation is already in place, the installation should cost around PLN 1 000.

  • The installation of a charging station without existing infrastructure is approximately PLN 1 499.

  • Type A protection is approximately PLN 349.

  • Type B residual current protection for public stations costs around PLN 899.

  • MID certified energy meter required for a public station at a cost of PLN 399.

  • Labelling of the station site including instructions is around a few dozen PLN.

  • The periodic inspection is determined individually, depending on the manufacturer.

About safety.

We are dealing here with much higher powers than those of household appliances. Potential errors can result in serious dangers, above all for users. Do not look for suspiciously cheap substitutes for key installation components. In the safety category, it is not worth saving.
